Forward Air LTL and Truckload XpeditedSM (TLX) Services - Updated Policy

Forward Air has adopted a fuel surcharge calculation method for both LTL and Truckload XpeditedSM (TLX) services based on the fuel prices published weekly by the U.S. Department of Energy.  This method closely links the fuel surcharges to prevailing market prices for diesel fuel and should help Forward Air and its customers respond more quickly to changes in fuel-related costs.

Starting on May 5, 2008, the fuel surcharge percentages for the Forward Air LTL and for TLX shipments respectively will be subject to weekly adjustment. The adjustment will be made according to the table below. The fuel surcharge will be based on the price per gallon of diesel fuel stated by the U.S. Department of Energy in their weekly reports each Monday. The effective periods will be from Monday in the succeeding week through the next Sunday. The surcharge percentage will be reflected on your Forward Air invoice.

  1. 1. For the purposes of the fuel surcharge, LTL shipments are defined as those that are rated as less than less-than-truckload shipments that move through the Forward Air network.
  2. 2. For the purposes of the fuel surcharge, Truckload Xpedited services are defined as those requiring full truckload (TLX) and rate on a per mile basis or at a cap rate.

We reserve the right to assess fuel and other surcharges on shipments without notice.  The amount and duration of any such surcharges will be determined at our sole discretion.  By tendering your shipment to Forward Air, you agree to pay the surcharges, as determined by Forward Air.
